So I picked up my copy for the long awaited game “Spore” this past Sunday.  I didn’t set out to retrieve the game until about 4pm that day…which is really odd since I’m usually counting down the minutes till the store opens. Another odd thing is that I waited about 3 hrs before even opening the game package after I got home. I have to admit I was pretty hooked on the Spore Creature Creator for a couple days, but that only lasted so long since there was no other game play besides having the creature jump up and down. It was nice to let your imagination run wild with creating new creatures though.

So I installed Spore Sunday evening and dove into creating new things for my creatures like a houses & vehicles and then eventually started a new game in one of the worlds available. The first stage “Cell Phase” kinda reminds me of the games where your a fish trying to eat other fish to grow larger…but in more detail. You also get to “evolve” by eating up DNA and then mating with your fellow species, and eventually end up becoming a land creature who then starts to grow a brain…how fun! Take a look at some of my creatures & other stuff I created in the game:

BTW…I turned the game off about 2am Monday morning & headed to bed, so I guess you can say I got a little addicted to it! I’m suprised I didn’t call in & take a vacation day. So far I’m impressed with having user created content within the game, but not so much with the gameplay itself.

I’ll have to blog again in a couple weeks to update you on my thoughts.
